In the 1950’s, with the decision of Government of India to construct India’s first One Million Ton capacity Public Sector Steel Plant at Bhilai, Simplex moved to Bhilai under the leadership of the Shri Hiralal Bhanji Shah( Youngest Son of Shri B.M.Shah) to be closely associated with the building of the Steel Plant at Bhilai in collaboration with Soviet Union. Being associated with Shri H.B.Shah, I recall his words, he said and I quote “Having four welding sets back in Jabalpur setup, we used to feel we were doing big time work but when I arrived at the Blast furnace Site of Bhilai 100’s of welding lights lit the sky during night shift like Diwali and we realized what project site work means.”
Simplex continued to be associated with the operation and expansion of and other SAIL Plants by way of manufacture and supply of critical spares including import substitution activities, components & equipment.
The 1970's saw Simplex not only consolidating itself in the domestic Steel sector, but also making its presence felt in the international market with its products. The company started exporting its products to quality conscious technologically advanced markets of Japan, USA, CIS Countries, Australia, Egypt, Germany and France etc.
Simplex started working on the execution of Turnkey Contracts with international associates. This period also saw the Company entering into a host of collaborations with world leaders in diverse fields from countries like Germany, France and United Kingdom, etc. During this period the present managing director of the company Shri Vijay Hiralal Shah joined the company.
The 1990's saw Simplex diversifying from primarily Steel Sector work to Railways, Mining, Power, Hydrocarbons, Defence etc.
During the 2000's, Simplex continued executing Turnkey contracts and developing various products for the areas it had already diversified into. Additionally, Simplex enhanced its manufacturing capacity by adding large sophisticated imported machine tools including CNC machines to meet the high quality norms of its rapidly growing foreign customer base.
Simplex expanded it’s manufacturing capacity substantially by adding a 65 Acres plot to it’s existing establishment, increased its covered area by adding new sheds with high capacity EOT Cranes, Invested in Automatic Beam Welding Lines, Robotic Welding, Beam Drilling Line, additional Painting Booths, Grit blasting areas to cater to the Increasing demand from it’s existing customer base. The Fourth Generation incumbent Shri Ravi Vijay Shah joined the company as Chief Executive Officer after completing his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Michigan Tech, USA.
